Does your website make you money?

All too often when we talk to business owners about the return on investment they get from their website we get a look like we just asked them to recite pi or name all of the Smurf characters alphabetically.

Here are 10 questions you should be asking yourself to find out if your website is working for you:

  • Why do I want visitors to come to my website?
  • Is this why visitors are actually coming to my website?
  • Is my website easy to navigate and find information?
  • Is my content simple, easy to read, understand and communicating the right message?
  • How many leads or sales am I getting from my website each month?
  • What do my competitors websites look like and what kinds of functionality do they have?
  • Is my website an accurate representation of my business?
  • Does my website instill consumer trust and confidence in my business and my brand?
  • Can I track and analyze the visitors and traffic going to my website?
  • Is there a strong “Call to Action” message on my website?

The more information you have about your website and how visitors are using it, the easier it is for you to improve their online experience. At the end of the day it’s a simple concept, you want your website to let potential customers know why they need your service, and then convert that need into a lead.

Not tracking, reviewing, understanding and then acting upon the data you can generate from your website is like having a showroom in your business where you ignore customers that walk in, don’t keep up with the cleaning and disregard any customer feedback you get. Not good.

One of things we teach each and every one of our clients is that you should never consider your website “finished”. It’s important to review your website from time-to-time and make sure it’s still an accurate representation of your business, and more importantly, working for you!
